R.I.P. AlTown

We all thought this day would never come but the impending doom of ALTown was on everyone's minds about 3 days ago when the no trespassing signs were put up. Although we never thought these signs would apply to us since the owner has told us several times it was ok to skate. Yesterday it was officially shut down. I personally saw about 7 people receive citations and one person detained in handcuffs but released. So that marks a long run and now memphis is left again.....with no skatepark. I was on the phone with Jerry Fanion who is the mayors something (maybe personal security guard) but has alot of police connections. Even he could do nothing about this since the dude owns the property. Anyways he updated me on soem things we all heard in the past. He said the money has been approved to build a skatepark and they are simply looking for a spot for it (heard that before). Although he said in light of this event it seemed like the process needed to be sped up and that he would let me know as soon as a location had been chosen. We will see......

GO SKATE DAY JUNE 21, 2010

Go Skate Day this coming monday will be an epic day in the history of AL Town. Sesh will be beginning around 4. ANYONE is welcome, unless your blowing it and you will be asked to leave. Bring plenty of water, also plan on bringing brooms shovels etc also. Still some clean up needs to be done, lots of rocks. Everyone come out and support the local DIY. Cooper Skateboards will be available for purchase, Trife Street Koozies (of which proceeds benefit al town) will be available, and plenty of other fun stuff. In light of its possible impending doom let's make this year better than ever!!!!! Also if you have any good metal signs we could use a few to better the sesh.....

AL TOWN RECEIVES POLE JAM

Thanks to galinis and mark and grant and several others not present in person, Al town is the official new owner of an AWESOME pole jam. Go check it out, it skateable. Al Town Fund account is nearing nothing. We need more donations to keep building!!!!! Also Trife St. Koozies still available 3$ profits benefit altown.............
